is my International Bestselling Book, and I would like to unpack its deep potential for inspiring a rethink of leadership.

In my chapter, Coaching Leadership and Culture: The Impact of ‘Being’ over ‘Doing’, I demonstrate how this human-orientated approach is committed to people and organisations thriving in parallel.

I advocate my philosophy of human ‘being-ness’ that fosters conditions for people to flourish with organisational climate and culture shaped by a Coaching mindset.

Human ‘being-ness’ is fleshed out in this extract from my chapter in the book:

“In professional and personal contexts, ‘being-ness’ is unique to each of us, and who we will become. I champion that we need to appreciate ourselves and each other for who we are as ‘beings’ more than ‘doings’. With curiosity, we can explore how our story will develop or change, and extend our interest to all with whom we co-exist. Gentle inquiry fosters rapport for building relationships. If we actively and inclusively listen to other narratives, we can honour who individuals are, and engage and experiment with new stories (Drake, 2018), re-writing any hand-me-down biases. By celebrating and nurturing our ‘being’, we can support human sustainability for thriving at work and in communities with whom we participate. In this way, we can prevent depletion and nourish humanity as we might a riverbed.”

Coaching Leadership and Culture are founded in their care for each individual. This approach is gentle but no less robust, and fundamentally:

“… actualises relatedness with the human ‘being-ness’ of people – going far beyond lip service for seeming to appreciate employees and colleagues.”

Witnessing and validating who we are more than what we do co-creates our workplace culture and our role within it, for thriving independently and interdependently. Individual needs are met without compromising the ability of others or the company to meet theirs.

Developing rigour around our understanding of climate and culture puts people back into the centre of what makes each business exactly what it is. And flourishing ensues for human ‘beings’ and the organisation.

What is Coaching Leadership and a Coaching Culture?

Reading my chapter will explain both, and through Consulting from

Think Being®, support for introducing and embedding Coaching Leadership and Culture is provided.
